Leverage my strong basic science background and clinical expertise to write for professional audiences. Interview subject matter experts in a broad range of fields and generate conference summaries. Recent projects include conference summaries for the New York Academy of Sciences, publications for NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and scientific journal articles in a variety of disease states. Previous projects include journalistic articles for the New York Genome Center and Under the Microscope, a website about women in science.

Associate Medical Director                                                                                                                         November 2011-April 2015

Create content (primarily slide presentations and print pieces) and provide strategic insight for promotional medical education and sales force training with a focus on creativity, branding message, and scientific accuracy. Topics include disease-state awareness to highlight the burden and unmet needs in HCV, HIV, and multiple myeloma and communicate the current state of testing and management. Attend international congresses and advisory boards to hear clinical data presented first hand and gather key insights from thought leaders regarding new and current therapies. Generate executive summaries of these meetings to provide our clients with action points and information to guide their strategy.

Junior Editor/Translator                                                                                                                      February 2010-December 2013

American Journal Experts, Durham, NC

Proofread and edited pre-publication papers and grants in the life sciences written by scientists whose first language is not English.  Edited for grammar, consistency, and flow. Also, translated papers from French to English. Consistently ranked among the top editors and earned performance-based bonuses.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Graduate Research Assistant                                                                                                                           August 2005-June 2011

University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC

Supervisor: Dr Sharon Campbell

Evaluated the effects of dynamics of the focal adhesion targeting (FAT) domain of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) on phosphorylation and ligand binding using NMR, ITC, and in vitro phosphorylation assays. Other techniques included protein purification, western blotting, mass spectrometry, and circular dichroism.
